Frequently Asked Questions

Educational Ebooks has been established to distribute eBooks and digital material. Students can maintain and keep a record of all their purchased eBooks in the one account. Think of Educational Ebooks as a portal for accessing, viewing and storing your eBooks.

An eBook is a digital version of a printed book that may have additional interactive features. Some eBooks may only be available in a digital format.

eBooks come in two main formats: Protected PDFs and Interactive eBooks.

A Protected PDF eBook is a static version of the original book with the same layout and visual formatting. The text does not adjust to fit the screen of the device or computer you are using to read the book. However, you can zoom in on a page or graphic.

An Interactive eBook is accessed via the publisher’s portal, using unique Activation Codes. They are accessible online, while some may be available to access both online and offline.

Activation Codes are unique codes provided by the publisher to ensure the correct eBook is accessed. Each publisher has different instructions for accessing Interactive eBooks. Once your eBook appears in your Educational Ebooks account, you will be given instructions on how to access the eBook.

The formats depend on availability from the publisher. Ebooks have limitations on printing, copying and sharing. These eBooks usually have an expiry, these settings are determined by the publisher.

Online eBooks can only be accessed with an internet connection.

Offline eBooks initially need to be downloaded to your device whilst connected to the internet. Once downloaded, you can access and read your eBook without an internet connection.

Due to restrictions placed by publishers, Protected PDF and Interactive eBooks cannot be printed.

Ebooks are always accessible online through your Educational Ebooks account (when connected to the internet) and available offline on supported devices (Protected PDFs only).

For a list of offline compatible devices see Setup Guides.

Ebooks generally last for 12 to 18 months from the date of activation. For specific eBook activation periods please contact your bookseller or the publisher so they can provide more details.

If you already have an Educational Ebooks account login here.

If you have forgotten your password, reset it here.

When you purchase an eBook you will be provided with a unique code that is called a Purchase Confirmation ID. This unique ID identifies which eBooks you have purchased.

The Purchase Confirmation ID is provided by your bookseller on your receipt, via email or SMS.

If you purchased your eBooks in store, your Purchase Confirmation ID is located on the bottom of your receipt under ‘eBooks Purchased’. If purchased online, you will be sent an email with your Purchase Confirmation ID.

If you have lost your Purchase Confirmation ID, contact your bookseller. Your Purchase Confirmation ID can be sent to you via SMS or email.

It is important to use your student’s email address as they will primarily be using it to store and access their purchased eBooks. It also makes it easier for the school to support and assist them with any troubleshooting.

Most Protected PDF eBooks are large files. They may take a considerable amount of time to download depending on the eBook, your device and internet connection. Once it has been downloaded, your eBook will be accessible offline and you will not need to download again unless changing device.

Single Sign On (SSO) allows a user to sign on with one set of credentials but gain access to various platforms.

Repeat sign on requests can be a hassle. Single Sign On reduces the frustration of signing in to each website or app individually and remembering multiple sets of credentials.

Once you have linked your Educational EBooks account to the publisher’s portal you have established SSO. This means you only need to login to Educational Ebooks to access all your digital material.

Activating SSO is only required for Interactive eBooks.

When creating an account for the publisher’s portal (outlined in the steps below) we recommended using the same details that you have used for your Educational Ebooks account. This will avoid having to update passwords and email addresses.

  1. Login to your Educational Ebooks account.
  2. Once you have entered the Purchase Confirmation ID your eBooks will appear in your bookshelf.
  3. Select ‘Get Code’ and follow the instructions by selecting ‘Activate’.
  4. Fill in the information requested:
New Users will be guided through the registration process* to link their publisher account to Educational Ebooks. The publisher may send you an email to verify your account.
Existing Users can link their already established publisher accounts by filling in the required fields.
  5. You may need to add the ‘Activation Code’ into the publisher’s portal.
  6. Once completed ‘Access Ebook’ will appear next to the eBook.

In future you will only need to sign into your Educational Ebooks account to access your eBooks.

If you have previously created an account with Educational Ebooks but have not activated Single Sign On, you can select ‘Publisher Accounts’ to link them together.

*These instructions vary for each publisher.

A Protected PDF cannot be redistributed to everyone. This comes down to Digital Rights Management and Intellectual Property. As Protected PDFs cannot be controlled on third party applications or software, they must be accessed through Educational Ebooks.
